Welcome to my creative world

Anna-Celestrya Carr is best known for the Men's Banner Project. This award-winning series combines social artistry, performance, and installation. This project was in response to the issue of violence against women and the thousands of missing and murdered Indigenous women in North America, commonly referred to as #MMIWG.

Anna-Celestrya is a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, writer, dancer, and speaker from the Red River Métis. She is originally from Manitoba, Canada, but now resides with her family in Massachusetts, USA.

She graduated from the Vancouver Film School and the National Screen Institute's New Voices program in Canada. While at NSI, she created Dreamcatcher (2011), a short dramatic fantasy of Aboriginal mythology. She wrote and directed Tik-A-Lee-Kick (2012), a poignant and candid portrayal of a young Aboriginal woman's perspective on the Little People.

Anna-Celestrya has worked for the National Film Board of Canada and the Urban Shaman Art Gallery.

Her latest film, "Wiigiwaam," is a visual project that follows an Indigenous artist and her family as they construct a wigwam using non-traditional materials. The installation makes a powerful statement and inspires a larger series that explores the artist's identity as a woman, an Indigenous person, and a creative individual.
